Phylum Coelenterata are Invertebrates with the following characteristic features :-
1. They are mostly aquatic, multicellular organisms showing radial symmetry and exhibiting tissue level of organisation.
2. They have a single gastrovascular cavity or opening in the body through which food is ingested and also waste is expelled out.
3.The mouth/opening of the body is surrounded by short and thin tentacles.
4. They lack sensory organs, circulatory system.
5. Digestion is intracellular as well as extracellular in coelenterates.
6. Excretion and respiration is carried out through simple diffusion.
7. They have two morphological forms - Polyp and Medusa.
