Hope you are doing great. The good result for NIT admission through JEE Main can be around 85-95 percentile. Applicants must also rank in the top 15,000-20,000 percentile to be considered for admission to the top NITs. Candidates who ranked between 1 -20,000 made it to the top NITs across the country, according to previous year's trends.
To qualify for NITs, candidates in the General Category must score at least 95 percentile. NITs are available to reserved category candidates with an 80 percentile score or higher. For NIT, candidates must get at least 99.4 percentile on the JEE Main. To get into the Top 5 NITs for CSE, you'll need a score of less than 5000 (about 190 out of 300).
