What should I check about placements before choosing a Btech college?
Don't look only at the highest package.
Check:
- Placement eligibility criteria
- Number and proportion of students placed
- Types of companies and roles
- Median or average compensation
- Internship opportunities
- Internship-to-job conversion, where applicable
- Career and interview preparation
- Whether placement figures are independently verifiable
For newer institutions, this becomes particularly important because there may be less historical placement data available.
PW IOI, for example, positions industry exposure, projects, mentoring and OJT as parts of its industry-oriented model. Students should evaluate those components alongside whatever placement information the institution publishes.
