What should I do if I not clear the GATE exam?

So what? You don't have to clear on the 1st attempt. You still can take a call. You can drop one year. Actually if you have prepared well for GATE Exam ,I believe even after your failure you already do have a good knowledge of Subjects and GATE pattern.
So in short, I would say you can try again for the same.
