What should I do to become perfutionist
Hi Sridarsini,
B
achelor of Perfusion Technology is relatively a new course in India. A perfusionist is a healthcare professional who works as an integral part of a surgical team. Perfusion refers to the functions necessary for the support, treatment, measurement, or supplementation of the cardiopulmonary and circulatory system of the patient. The course involves the study of physiology, pathology and associated equipment for support and assumptions of heart/lung functions during surgical procedures. Institutes such as School of Allied Health Sciences, Manipal offer this course. There is no entrance test as such and the admission of students on the basis of Class 12 marks. In order to be a perfusionist, a candidate usually has to obtain a score of 50% or above in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in Class 12 and also must have taken English as a subject. You would then need to apply to colleges offering courses as such, and based on your marks, you would be eligible for admission.
