It can be divided into three categories :
Those candidates having sc, st category safe percentile to get top NITs is approx 96.78 percentile without home state quota and 95 percentile with home state quota.
For the obc candidate, it is 98 percentile without home state quota and 97.5 percentile with home state quota.
For general candidate, it is almost 98.7 percentile
In order to get admission in top NITs you have to score 185 marks.

We can't predict the safe percentile as if now since the percentile is calculated according to the top score in the exam(January attempt).
Try to attempt April exam also for better results than January attempt.

As a general candidate you need to be a top notch student. there are and there is not a thing like safe score and decent NITs. If you can score good you can get into good college if not then in a simple college. score atleast 98 percentile.
