This is one of the most interesting logical thinking question. According to the story, a farmer had a lots of debt on landlord. the old landlord wanted to marry the farmer's beautiful daughter. so he came up with a deal. He said he would put 2 pebbles, a black and a white in a bag. the girl had to pick one. if she picked a white pebble, she need not marry him and farmer's debt still would be cleared. If she picks black pebble, she must marry him and debt will be cleared too. However, she notices that he puts 2 black pebbles to cheat in the game.
The clever girl picks a pebble in front of everyone and drops it and made it look she accidently dropped the pebble. It became one among the many pebbles on ground. She then says, to know which pebble she had picked they can look at the other pebble in the bag. If it is a black one, she must have picked white, and vice versa. The landlord could not tell the truth, The girl won and the debt was cleared.
