Freuds iceberg theory states that like an iceberg the mind or the consciousness can be divided into the conscious, preconscious, and unconscious. While the visible top of the iceberg is the conscious, the middle part submerged in water still visible is the preconscious and the bulk immersed and not visible is the unconscious. The unconscious is supposedly a reservoir of all repressed emotions, feelings, and childhood memories.
