The Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University was established in 1st May 1983. It caters to educational needs of five districts Amravati, Akola, Buldhana, Yavatmal and Washim with few affiliated colleges. It was named as Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University in the year 2005. The university is named after Sant Gadge Maharaj or Gadge Baba, a saintly social reformer.
