Due to Corona pandemic there is no proper schedule released from the authorities as it is been conducted by the Joint seat Allocation Authority. The date which are declared on August but they are tentative and may change with the situation.

For jee mains--
Step-1: Registration - First the candidates will have to register in the JoSAA web portal to participate in the JEE Main 2020 counselling and seat allotment process.
Step-2: Choice Filling & Locking - They will have to lock their college preferences and B.Tech courses. The seats will be allocated to the candidates on the basis of choices filled.
Step-3: Seat Allotment Process - Students will be allocated seats based on the availability of seats, preference & merit of the candidates. However, the mock allotment will be conducted by the exam authorities in two rounds before the actual seat allotment process.
Step-4: Fee Payment & Seat Acceptance - After the completion of the seat allotment process, they will have to select any one of the following options.
Float: If a candidate wishes to keep the allotted seat and also want to upgrade their seat, they can choose this option.
Freeze: In case, candidates are satisfied with their allocated seats and do not want to participate in further rounds of counselling, they can select this option.
Slide: If candidates wish to accept the allotted seat and want to upgrade the programme in the same institute, they can select this option.
Withdraw: If any candidates have already accepted the seat allotted, they may withdraw the seat by reporting at the allotted institute before the final round of seat allotment.
For jee advance ---
Step 1 - Registration: JoSAA will commence the registration process for JEE Advanced 2020 counselling and seat allotment online. Using their JEE Main 2020 roll number and JEE Advanced 2020 password, the candidates will have to log in through the official website. After logging in, their previously filled details will be displayed which has to be checked and confirmed.
Step 2 - Choice Filling and Locking: After registration, the candidates will have to select their choice of colleges and courses in online mode. The selection has to be done as per preference from the list of available courses and colleges. The candidates are advised to fill as many choices as possible. Before confirming the choices, the candidates will be able to edit, arrange, add or delete the choices. After the final choices have been made, the candidates will have to lock it.
Step 3 - Seat Allotment: Candidates will be able to check the mock allotment to know their probable allotment as per the choices they submit. If they wish to make any changes, the candidates will be allowed to for a limited period of time. Seven rounds of allotment will be announced by the authorities in online mode. The selected candidates will be able to download their provisional allotment letter and make their decision among the options of float, freeze and slide. Allotment of candidates will be done as per their merit, preferences, category and availability of seats.
Step 4 - Reporting at Centres: Finally, the selected candidates will have to pay the seat acceptance fee and report to their respective reporting centres. Documents have to be produced for verification. After the documents are verified, the candidates will have to report to their allotted institute and confirm their seat by paying the required fee.
