Automobile engineering is not an ordinary programme, the university must have huge infrastructure to support the delivery of programme. In last 16 years of my career as educator, very few universities have recognised the requirements and evolved accordingly. So I compare the colleges on following:
# Curriculum development: Is the curriculum at the college/university regularly upgraded with industry inputs. # Teaching pedagogy : Mere classroom learning doesn't work these days, your college must have experiential learning practices. More the practical, better it is. # Infrastructure: To support the practical and theoretical aspects of the curriculum, equipment and other resources. # Projects and internships : For learning hands on the real time situations in companies. # Professional enhancement: The college must focus on the personality development, soft skills, interpersonal skills, work ethics etc. For making students right id of professionals. # Student diversity: When the class comprises of people from diverse nationalities and background, students learn the most important part of working in corporate, team work and cross cultural sensibilities. # Faculty: Obviously the faculty members must be of high caliber and research oriented. # Industry interface: There must be regular industry interactions, seminars, conferences, visits and mentor-ship programs organised by university. # Entrepreneurship and community projects: The universities need to have design thinking, innovation and business incubation labs, some universities like LPU are a step further, they also have SEED capital facility for deserving startups. # Placements: After all it boils down to placements, the university must attract good number of companies for recruitment and offer good salaries as well as job roles.
