MMMUT Gorakhpur offers BTech course in ECE and CSE. So, I will tell you about both ECE and CSE courses.
ECE course:
- Placement: There are overall 70-80% of students who got placed from this department. Companies like Wipro, TCS, Microsoft and Infosys recruited students from this college. The highest salary package offered was almost 8 LPA and lowest was 3.3 LPA.
- Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable. They are very supportive and train the students in terms of placements. Their teaching quality lacks a bit compared to other departments.
CSE department:
- Placements: 80% of students get placed from this department. The highest salary package offered was 38 LPA and lowest was around 4 LPA. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Adobe visit the college for recruitment of students from this branch. Also, good internships opportunities are provided to the students.
- Faculty: The teachers are very knowledgeable and PhD holders in their subjects. Some of them teach really good but some of them don't. They are very helpful though. The course curriculum is more about higher studies. The lab assistants do not seem to be that good.
Finally, I would like to conclude saying that both the departments are almost the same. If you are interested in studying programming and stuffs then go for IT branch. Else, if you are interested to study about electronics, transistors, transmissions etc, then choose ECE. Choose as per your interest.

As far as academic quality is concerned both are more or less same but from placement point of view it is better.
So decision is entirely yours. Just try not to bring out your hometown feelings when career is considered. Staying at home has its own advantages and disadvantages… choose wisely , you know yourself better than anyone else. Ask questions to yourself like where u can perform better , where u wanna reside…
Overall both branch is good.all depends on your interest.

To begin with doing ECE gets you jobs that are core jobs and also IT Jobs whereas IT sticks to jobs only in that field and not core jobs since it is more related to CSE. But, if you are someone whose more inclined towards CSE, then IT is a better choice.
