To prepare for English for the SSC, Bank, RRB Exams etc. exams you can prefer the following books -

OBJECTIVE GENERAL ENGLISH 1 Edition by RS Aggarwal

English Grammar by Wren & Martin

For the preparation of English section you must read the newspaper daily especially The Hindu and Indian Express.

You can also follow to Objective General English Paperback by Arihant and High School English Grammar and Composition by P.C Wren.
