The most commmon exam for getting into MBA is CAT(common enterence exam). However, there are many other exams which are held such as MAT/ATMA/XAT/CMAT and other national level entrance test.

There are colleges that conduct exams of their own to get into the management courses i.e. MBA. These exams are very much like the CAT exam.For example- At JK Lakshmipat University if the candidate has not appeared for any of the mentioned tests, then the candidate will have to appear in the JKLU Management Entrance Test (MET) to qualify for the programme. This is a efficient and a time saving way, other wise you tend to waste a lot of time preparing for CAT.

Dear Sharada, this depends upon your target colleges. If you want to get into any of the 20 IIMs, then it is CAT. And top B schools accept other entrance examinations like MAT,XAT, SNAP, ATMA, etc. Every entrance exam has its own importance and we cannot name one amongst all these as they all are equally important.
