A lot depends upon when are you going to complete your Engineering education.There are some branches that will always stay in demand like Mechanical Engineering .

At present Artificial intelligence, robotics, materials science seem to be really promising.But to certain extent the state of various industries when you graduate will determine the scope of different branches.Along with the scope you should also focus on your interest and aptitude before deciding your branch..

Generally computer science, electronics and communication, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering are very popular among students. But which course you choose mustn't be limited to salary alone, as you need to consider other things like academic and research prospects, long-term benefits and other such things.

Also, don't pick a college blindly just because it offers a popular course. Check the reputation of the college, its faculty, infrastructure and research capabilities. Also, whether the institute offers industry-institute interface. Otherwise, your theoritical knowledge would be goodd, but you will have to compromise on practical experience, which may dim your chances of getting a good job.

So, look at what you want to study and why holistically, and not just how much money you will make initially.
