Automobile engineering is a branch of Mechanical engineering, where you'll deal mostly with automobile, whereas in Mechanical engineering, you'll deal with all machines and its design and then many more basics. But literally both are same, no big difference.

If we have to choose then Mechanical Engineering is much better than automobile engineering. After Doing mechanical engnieering you can make your career in Auto industry , manufacturing industry , tool Industry , production Industry PSUs and lots more and after Automobile Engineering you are Restricted only to one sector i.e. Auto mobile. Automobile engineering is only good when you are getting some top colleges or government colleges like IITs , NITs , PEC , DTU , NSIT , State Government Engineering Colleges.

Hello,

It depends on each engineer’s likings and abilit. Mechanical engineering covers far wider areas and automobile engineering covers more concentrated area. If the engineer likes automobile and very detailed technologies, he should take automobile engineering. If he is just like Jack of All knowledge Nd wants to experience as wide as engineering fields, he should take mechanical engineering. But after starting a job, everyday both engineers try to identify every necessary field, they should learn it himself and should be able to self learn. Now everything is obtainable through Internet.
