which phase takes place after prophase?
Hi Vishwanath,
Mitosis is divided into 4 stages, namely:
1)Prophase
2)Metaphase
3) Anaphase
4)Telophase
The main events during these phases are:(I am giving you very condensed points to memorize):
Prophase:
Chromatin materials condenses to form chromatids which are attached by the centromere.
Metaphase
Spindle fibres are attached to the kinetochores of the chromosomes
Chromosomes are moved to the spindle equator and get aligned along metaphase plate.
Anaphase:
Centromeres split and chromatids separate.
Chromatids move to opposite poles.
Telophase:
Chromosomes cluster at opposite poles and their identity as discrete elements is lost.
Nulear envelope assembles around the chromosome cluster.
Nucleolus,Golgi complex, and reform.
Hope it's clear.
