Hii, though selecting a date should be based on your personal choice and convinience, if you are planning to appear for JEE advanced as well then go for a date atleast 5-6 days before the expected JEE advanced date, so that you dont panic at the last moment. Other than this take care of factors such as how well you are prepared and if you will need some extra time for mock tests. If you are someone who wants to be free from the stress as soon as possible, choose an early date but if you are a person who will stress out if given less time for preparation go for a date in the end of May. Dont worry about choosing the first date available or the last one, as last minute preparations dont matter in such exams and also one can't predict the difficulty level of the paper on the basis of the dates.
