why do airplane didn't gets the lightning strike?
Hi Ayush, it is all becuase of the design of the aeroplane body which save it from lightning. Generally aeroplanes are very much prone to lightning attacks. The body of the aeroplane is designed with a lot of conducting materials and strong materials which can conduct current as well as not erode much. The first part is the fuel region which is very well protected, in order to prevent any sparks caused due to lightning. The body is generally made up of aluminum in older planes and it is made up of composite materials in the modern ones which is highly conducting in nature. The current charges passes from one end to the other and flows out to the air itself. Shielding materials and surge suppressor are present which prevent the transient effects to occur. Static wicks are used to pass on the elextric charges back to the clouds which would attract the opposite charges and thus prevent the planes from damage.
