Will new medical colleges start their function in j&k by 2019 May?
Hello Rishi,
Firstly, I would like to tell you the minimum eligibility criteria for taking B. Tech in computer science and engineering -
1) You must have passed 10 + 2 exams with science subjects such as maths, physics, and English as compulsory courses.
2) Minimum percentage of marks in class 12/ higher secondary Examination is generally from 45% to 50%.
So, according to that, you are eligible for the course, so you need not take BCA, you can easily for B. Tech in CSE.
Though let me tell you how BCA and B. Tech in CSE can be different.
BCA is a course concentrated completely on computer application, the software involved, the design, programming, operational function, management etc. Whereas, B.Tech CSE is a lot wider course including communications, electronic, Software engineering along with the knowledge of computer systems.
Now, let me tell you a bit about the admission procedure in B.Tech CSE. Admission to this program is strictly through entrance exam.
First, you would have to fill the application form of the competitive exam then the next step is sitting for the exams and following with a counseling process that might differ for each exam. Various entrance exams are conducted throughout India for admission to this course. I'm mentioning some of them below -
1) JEE (Mains) -
It is one of the top Entrance Exams in India and you have to clear JEE Mains to get admission in colleges like IITs, NITs etc. Once you have cleared your JEE Mains, you can apply for JEE Advanced. It is for admission in the IITs.
The admission to the institutes is according to the rank you secure in the entrance. Some of the colleges even consider a combination of your class 12th and Entrance performance as an admission criterion.
2) BITSAT -
BITSAT is the entrance for the admission in BITS, Pilani. The admission will be based on the marks you score in the entrance out of 450. BITSAT will also asses you on English, other than Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
4) SRMJEE -
It is the entrance exam for Vellore Institute of Technology. It is located in Vellore and Chennai.
There is another way to get into a B. tech CSE course called lateral entry. The eligibility for lateral entry is 10th or 12th + 3yr Diploma in Engineering/Technology or BSc in Non-medical, Computer Science or Computer Application.
After this undergraduate course, you can apply for M.Tech Computer Science and Engineering in various colleges by sitting for GATE.
So, definitely go for B. tech CSE instead of BCA, B. Tech graduates hold a lot more value than BCA graduates and the number of career options after graduation is comparatively a lot more.
Hope this helps.
Good luck
