With rank 40000 in jee mains can I get seat in any nit?

For this you have to check opening and closing rank of the NIT you wish to study.
According to my knowledge, Last year Closing rank for most of the Good NIT's were in the range 6000-36000.
AT this score you may not be getting NITs but there are chances of yours getting some nice branch in low rank NITs or IIITs or GFTIs. Last year GFITs closed at 60000.
You can get Bio Technology or Mining Engineering in NIT AGARTALA, NIT SIKKIM, NIT AURUNACHAL, NIT MEGHALAYA. Electrical in IIIT MANIPUR is also possible.

As you have not mentioned your category, I am assuming you are from general category. You are onlygoing to get admissions into some of the NITs that to if you are from the home state as the cutoff for home state candidates is quite lenient.
