with what speed should a body be theen upwards so that the distances traversed in 5th and 6th second are equal?
Hi
As the body travels upwards, its speed continuously decreases, and increases as it comes down. So the 5th and 6th second should be in ascent and descent respectively. This means there is a 1 second time gap between the 2 positions, and therefore a 0.5 second time gap to reach the highest position,i.e. where velocity is 0.
Total time = 2*(5+0.5) since time of ascent =time of descent= 11s
Time of descent = 5.5 s
Velocity with which ball returns = velocity with which it was thrown
= u+ gt = 0+ 10*5.5= 55 m/s
