The branch has its roots in Mechanical Engineering but is more focused on meeting the demands of the manufacturing sector. A typical undergraduate course lays emphasis on manufacturing and improvement of productivity. A student develops a sound knowledge about overall industrial production and management and also learns to analyse the emerging technological trends. Job profiles in this field are Plant Engineers, Quality Engineers and Industrial Managers.
