Dear student,
Angulimala was a thief, a robber or better say a murderer who was very cruel. He slaughtered many villages, families into non-families. After slaughtering them he cut off and wear their fingers or most probably thumbs around his neck. Since he wore the garland of fingers, he was called Angulimala.
When he encountered with Lord Budhha, the softness of his heart emerged with great force. A sudden change came to his heart. He then became a monk.
