A student applying for postgraduate (M.Des) program should qualify the Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) conducted by IITs as a part of their central admission procedure. They are further shortlisted through apptitude test and further on through a personal interview session.

The candidates are required to appear in DAT Prelims comprising of the CDAT [Common Design Aptitude Test].

A candidate must have Minimum CPI of 6.0 or 55% of marks in the qualifying degree/diploma as indicated below:

• All regular category candidates (except those having BTech/BDes degrees from an IIT with a minimum CPI of 7.0) must possess a valid score of all India Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED). For eligibility for financial assistance for regular category candidates, please see the section “Financial Support” below.
• Minimum experience required for Sponsored (Full-time), Self-Financed, and Part-Time categories of candidates, have been indicated below.
• 4-year Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in Design, Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design or a Design related field.
• 4-year Professional Diploma in Design of NID or Professional Diploma of CEPT (5-year programme)

Age Limit:

• For Indian Nationals in General Category & General EWS Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1991 are eligible to apply for admission.
• For Indian Nationals in Reserved Category (Other Backward Class-Non Creamy Layer (OBC- NCL), Scheduled Caste (SC) & Scheduled Tribe (ST): Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1988 are eligible to apply for admission.
• For Indian Nationals in Person with Disabilities (PwD) Reserved Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1986 are eligible to apply for admission.
• For Foreign Nationals in Overseas (Supernumerary) Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1991 are eligible to apply for admission.

Educational Qualification:

In addition to satisfying the above age criteria, the candidate must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications to be considered eligible for admissions:

Bachelor Degree of minimum 4-year duration in any specialization, after 12^th standard or equivalent to 12^th standard from any university or institute recognised by law in India.

Condition: Candidate must have passed the Bachelor Degree examinations at the time of document verification tentatively scheduled in July/August.

OR

Full-time Diploma of minimum 4-year duration in Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/ Architecture, after 12^th standard or equivalent to 12^th standard, from any university or institute recognised by law in India.

Condition: Candidates must have passed the Diploma examinations at the time of document verification tentatively scheduled in July/August

Bachelor Degree of minimum 3-year duration in any specialization, after 12^th standard or equivalent to 12^th standard.

Condition: Candidates must have passed the 3 year Bachelor degree examinations by 2020. Those applicants who were in the final year of Academic Year 2019-20 and whose examinations have not been conducted by 2020, due to the pandemic situation prevailing in the country, can also apply.
