    Admission Details

    St Joseph Engineering College is a Religious Minority Institution and admissions are governed as per religious minority institution status, as stated/declared by Government of Karnataka. Seats Break-Up:- Being a Christian minority institution, preference is given to Christian students when admitting students to various programmes in the College. Out of the total intake of 540 seats for B.E. courses, 40% is set aside for CET students, 30% for COMEDK, and 30% for Management Category students. Christian students taking admissions under COMEDK quota are offered seats at highly discounted fees (equivalent to CET fees) depending on the merit of the candidate. Students from all over the country and even from Gulf countries can also answer COMEDK to get admission to SJEC. NRI students can also seek admission through the NRI quota after appearing for COMEDK. Selection is based on the merit of the candidate in the qualifying examination and Entrance test marks. Selection and admission will be provisional and is subject to the norms prescribed by A.I.C.T.E, V.T.U. and Government of Karnataka. The candidates who meet the qualification are required to appear for entrance test and interview to be conducted at St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor Mangalore or any other place specified by the college, the exact date of which will be intimated.     Common Entrance Test (CET) and Selection Process-

    The Government of Karnataka conducts a Common Entrance Test (CET) through the Karnataka Examination Authority. This entrance exam is a gateway to obtaining an engineering seat through the Government quota. The CET conducts the examination in four subjects namely Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Candidates who wish to seek admission in engineering courses should appear for the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics exams. Students are offered a choice of colleges based on their CET ranking at the time of CET counselling and can choose CMRIT at the time of CET counselling.

    COMEDK and Selection Process-

    The Karnataka Private Medical & Dental Colleges Association namely “Consortium of Medical Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka”, COMEDK also conducts entrance examinations for all students irrespective of state. After the COMEDK entrance test is administered and the test scores and rank lists have been published, centralized counselling will be conducted. Students are given the option of selecting the college of their choice during COMEDK counselling, and can choose CMRIT at this time.

    Management Admission Process-

    Admission through this process is open to both Karnataka and non-Karnataka students. Eligible students (those who meet qualifying requirements as per the eligibility criteria) may contact the CMRIT Admissions Section in order to obtain the application form.     Eligibility Criteria

    The candidate shall have passed the second year Pre University or XII standard or equivalent examinations held preceding the date of entrance test with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Biology, Electronics and shall have secured not less than Forty Five (45%) percent of the aggregate marks in optional subjects, with English as one of the languages, for admission to Engineering & Technology Courses.

    Provided further that the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility shall be Forty percent (40%) of aggregate in optional subjects in case of candidates belonging to the **Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes specified in the relevant Government order for the purpose of reservation in respect of Engineering and Technology Courses.

    For Lateral Entry-Candidates who have passed a three-year Diploma in Engineering with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST) in the final year are eligible for lateral entry. As part of their course, such candidates will have to study additional subjects as prescribed by the University.

    For Diploma Holders

    Diploma Holders in engineering with a minimum of 50% marks in the final examination, conducted by the Board of Technical Examination, Government of Karnataka or its equivalent, are eligible for admission to the corresponding branch of Second Year engineering. Candidates must take the Common Entrance Test (DCET) for Diploma students conducted by the CET Cell, Govt. of Karnataka. Seats will be allotted during the centralized counseling process conducted by the CET Cell.

    For NRI & Foreign students

    Admission to undergraduate programs in engineering shall be open to NRI / Foreign candidates who have passed 12th standard or equivalent examination recognized by AIU with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with Chemistry / Electronics / Biology / Biotechnology / Computer Science as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study.
