According to previous years cut-off records ...yes you can get  ECE ...

.As many of my friends get admission in IT branch with rank approx around ..2000 in cusat cat 2017 ....

but as Cut-off change every year ..we can't anything surely..

You might not be able to get a seat in the main campus in the mechanical branch as cut off is generally below 3800 but you can wait for the next rounds of counseling or try for other branches or other campuses in  CUSAT CAT.
