Do IAS and IFS (foreign) officers who intend to do an MBA from the Harvard or Stanford require to take GMAT?

Abhishek Roy 9th Sep, 2021

Depends across Courses at Foreign Universities. Usually 1 Year Executive Programs, might not necessarily require a GMAT Score, provided you have a strong profile, backed by a strong work experience in Government of India. However, it again varies with Universities. GMAT is compulsary you may have to produce the score with the Application. Incase youre targeting a Full Time Program, you might necessarily require GMAT Score.

I am Preparing For Gate Exam being a 2nd Year Btech student. Can i give GRE or GMAT exam after completing my 2 years MTech course ?

Purbayan Chatterjee 20th Aug, 2021

Hi Swarnava,

There are no specific eligibility criteria for the GRE / GMAT Exam that deters one from giving the exam had the candidate already done his / her M. Tech. Anyone can register for both GRE and GMAT Exam and there is also no prescribed age limit as of now.

However, I would like to enlighten you with the fact that GRE / GMAT scores are valid for a period of 5 years. So if you're planning to settle abroad, you can give the exam as early as you can so as to avoid any last minute discrepancies. But even if you want to give it after completing your M. Tech, that is totally fine.

Hope this was helpful.

if i want to go abroad for MBA... which tests do i need to give along with IELTS? and how can i prepare for GMAT?

Ananya Krishnan 19th Aug, 2021

Hello,

You need to give the IELTS/TOEFL along with the GMAT exam. These are the only exams you need to prepare for.

  1. Start your GMAT exam process at least six months before your test results are due. Most test takers report a minimum eight-week study timeline is ideal if you are somewhat familiar with the underlying GMAT exam content. But, you can study however you want and focus on what topics need your attention first and move on accordingly.
  2. Review and study one section of the test at a time.
  3. Review basic math skills.
  4. Practice pacing, because time management is critical to completing the GMAT exam.
  5. Review the types of questions in the Analytical Writing Assessment, Integrated Reasoning, Verbal, and Quantitative Reasoning sections  .
  6. Use the free GMAT™ Official Practice Starter Kit and Exams 1 & 2 to help you become familiar with the format used.
  7. Expand your preparation with more questions by using GMAT™ Official Practice Exams 3, 4, 5 & 6  .
  8. Practice with real GMAT questions, answers, and explanations using the GMAT™ Official Guide  .
  9. Review the GMAT™ Official Guide Verbal Review  or the GMAT™ Official Guide Quantitative Review.
  10. In the end, review all that you have studied, notes, revise all the topics for equal amounts of time.

Hope this helps!

Most of the colleges in United States and Canada require students to give GMAT that is Graduate management aptitude test in order to be eligible for admission. They have their own cut off marks and the entire application is assessed on the basis on the holistic approach they have.

i got 720 in gmat beside bcom hon from du. tell best indian colleges accepting gmat scoralso give foreign institute for mba without experience

Akshita Dhiman 1st Jul, 2021

Hello aspirant,

Could you please clarify the first part of your question? Anyhow, I have listed the colleges in India as well as abroad (without work experience).

Listed below are the top colleges in India that accept GMAT scores.

  • IIM Ahmedabad
  • IIM Indore
  • IIM Calcutta
  • IIM Bangalore and more.

The entire list of colleges is available here.

https://bschool.careers360.com/colleges/list-of-government-mba-colleges-in-india-accepting-gmat

It is highly unlikely that MBA colleges accept candidates without prior experience. However, there are a few colleges that accept a candidate without any prior work experience. Usually, these colleges accept 15 years of education (12+3)

Please keep in mind the following things, before applying. As these colleges are not looking for work experience they factor in a lot of other things like:

  • LOR- you need 2-3 good LOR's.
  • A good GMAT score (the higher the better)
  • Impeccable academic record. (overall consistency in grades) and a neat CV ( list all the skills but keep it brief)

Below are the colleges, attaching direct links for the same:

Gannon University, www.gannon.edu/

Seton Hall University, www.shu.edu/undergraduate-admissions/

Long Island University, www.liu.edu/

NYU stern school of business www.stern.nyu.edu/content/nyu-stern-school-of-business

The University of Dayton, https://udayton.edu/

Kansas state university, www.k-state.edu/

and more

Any which way I highly recommend you go through the article below as to why work experience is important for an MBA.

I hope this information helps!

Thank you and good luck!
