Karnataka Common Entrance Test
hi,
With your son’s KCET rank of 26,099, getting a seat in Electronics and Communication Engineering at KLS Gogte Institute might be difficult. Last year, the closing rank for that branch was around 19,000 to 23,000, which is better than his rank.
However, he can still try for counselling and see if any seats are left in later rounds. It’s also a good idea to consider other branches like Electrical Engineering, where the cutoffs are usually higher and might match his rank.
Make sure to complete the counselling registration on the official KEA website and keep checking for seat allotment updates. If this college doesn’t work out, you can look at other colleges or management quota options as a backup.
HEY THERE!!
With an SC category rank of around 80,000 for Veterinary Science in Karnataka (Holeya girl, non-agriculture quota), it is very difficult to get a seat in the Hyderabad-Karnataka (HK) region in the early rounds. Most seats are filled by candidates with better ranks. You might get a chance only in the last rounds if some seats remain vacant. Make sure to attend all counselling rounds and keep checking the official KCET updates for vacant seats.
If you have a KCET rank of around 70,000 in BSc Agriculture from the SC category (Holeya girl) with HK region reservation, getting a government seat is tough but still possible. The HK region reservation helps, but seats are limited and competition is high. You should participate in all counselling rounds and keep checking official KCET updates. Also, fill your choices carefully and stay ready for any seat that may become vacant in later rounds.
To determine your chances of getting a government college through KCET, let's look at the KCET rank calculation and previous year's cutoff trends.
KCET rank is calculated based on both KCET scores and PU (PU PCM aggregate) scores. The rank formula is:
KCET Rank = (300 - KCET PCM aggregate) + (300 - PU PCM aggregate)
With your KCET rank being 166563, it's challenging to predict your chances without knowing the specific cutoff trends for the current year and the colleges you're interested in.
However, here are some general steps you can take:
1. Check the official KEAM counseling website for updates on seat allocation and counseling schedules.
2. Look up previous year's cutoff ranks for government colleges in Karnataka.
3. Consider factors like category (General, OBC, SC/ST, etc.) and region-specific colleges.
If you'd like more specific guidance or help with calculating your chances, please provide:
1. Your KCET score
2. Your PU PCM aggregate score
3. Your category (if applicable)
This will help me provide a more tailored response.
With a KCET rank of 17,000, getting AI or AI&ML in the very top-tier Karnataka colleges like RVCE, BMSCE, MSRIT will be difficult under the general category, as their AI branches usually close within the top 6–8K ranks. However, you have a realistic shot at mid-to-upper tier colleges that still have good placements in AI-related streams.
Top colleges in Karnataka offering AI/AI&ML where 17K rank might work (general category chances vary):
SJCE Mysuru
BMS Institute of Technology & Management (BMSIT) – maybe in later rounds
JSS Academy of Technical Education, Bengaluru
Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering (DSCE) – possible in later rounds
Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (NMIT)
Reva University
CMR Institute of Technology
New Horizon College of Engineering
Acharya Institute of Technology
If you belong to a reserved category, your chances for higher-ranked colleges improve significantly. For general category, aim for these good mid-tier ones, and keep backups ready for round 2 and casual vacancy rounds.
