Can I write the lateral entry exam for MBBS through NEET in 2020. Im a B.Sc.Nursing graduate

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 25th Aug, 2019
Dear Manju, there is no lateral entry for MBBS. You have to appear for NEET, qualify and then join 1st year of MBBS. And there is no concept of lateral entry examination for MBBS. A bridge course between BDS and MBBS in under discussion but nothing for B.Sc Graduates. And again the Health Ministry has confirmed that as of June 2019, there is no such proppsal to allow BDS Graduates tonpractise modern medicine. The Dental Council of India has sent a proposal to MCI but now with MCI being scrapped off in favour of NMC, it is yet to be seen how this would shape up. And the Health Minister has also replied in Rajya Sabha if Candidates who have completed BDS can directly join 3rd year MBBS, he said there was no such proposal. And also when asked if BDS and MBBS have similar syllabus in the first 2 years, the Minister replied that 'According to the Board of Directors appointed in supersession of MCI have informed that the syllabus is not similar'. So in short everything remains the same for NEER 2020, as it was for NEET 2019. If you are planning on appearing for NEET 2020, here is some important information:

Hi,

There are reports that NEET 2020 will be computer based, but there is no official notification as such from NTA now. There are chances that it would be, since most entrance examinations exams have now been successfully conducted in the Computer mode. Applications would probably release by November 2019 and we would know for sure then about it. Watch out for this space for details:
