The seat he got would definately be because he would have have some other minority quota along with obc quota.Also the seat maybe in a private college which you did not fill in your choices or your preference for that college was low and his preference for that

If your marks are around 540 and above then there are more chances for you to get in Kakatiya Medical College. If you have marks around 530s then also you can get in good colleges of Telangana like Rajiv Gandhi Medical College, Adilabad.

The first reason for not being selected in the first round can be that you have marks less than the cut off marks decided this year.

Second reason can be that in the 80 colleges you applied for,There might be students with higher rank that may have applied
