What is the scope of biomedical engineering in future??

ym.matlani_6504227 Student Expert 22nd Jul, 2019

dear candidate,

Bio-medical engineer definitely a new but a promising career option. For a bio-medical engineer you have mainly two career options 1. Medical Technology 2. Pharmaceutical

Medical Technology industry is really a passionating industry. but in india you have a less option , specially if you want to work in a R&D, though many MNCs and Startups has taken a serious interest in Emerging markets like India.

I am a Maths-Bio Student in my12th.I have a common doubt whether I can study BE Computer Science Engineering. Is interest really needed in

Himanshu Vashith 22nd Jul, 2019

Hello there. It's a most common thing for the students to think and glad to see that you are concerned with what to do in future because many without thinking choose CSE and later on are not able to achieve anything in the future.

Ok so the next thing. Yes it's quite true to say that only person interested in CSE should opt for it because without interest you won't be able to achieve what you can achieve in the field of your interest. But on other hand CSE is a field in which once you enter you will find it very interesting and your interest will start to grow automatically toward it. So it's totally your decision whether you want to choose something new or carry on the things which are already with you.

Since you are particular about the subjects, them you can opt for the option of BSc where you can study more about these subject and later on with MSc and then after that you still want to read them you can go for PHD in any particular field.

And if you want to go with CSE then go with engineering and their in first year it's totally what you have studied before in 12th and just a higher version for the concepts. Their at starting you will be having a single CSE subject which will be C Language to start building up your concepts. Once you start to take interest in that, you can easily grab all the further things. And also in CSE it's not just coding and programming. Their are various other concepts which are in high demand like web designing,  algorithms, search engine optimization digital marketing and many more such concepts so you can select any one of that for your future.

Is there any scope for mechanical engineering for future

Nishit_1525340102 Student Expert 21st Jul, 2019

Hello Syed,

Yes always.
The scope for mechanical engineering is much wider than what we think.
Everything around us, most of them is result of innovation by mechanical engineers.
Also the fan in computers is designed by mechanical engineer, which is an integral part of cooling system.
Refrigerator, AC, power plants, new shaped materials, automobile, rocket, etc all comes under the might roof of mechanical engineering.
There could be no day where one could not find good scope in mechanical engineering.
Just have good concepts, see where your future will lead you.
Thank you.

What is the scope for biomedical engineering in India?

NAVEEN MEENA Student Expert 21st Jul, 2019

Dear Ayush, Biomedical engineering is identified as one of the niche engineering branches in the country which deals with the study of engineering principles. These principles are further combined with the principals of medical sciences aiming to streamline the healthcare services in the country.

The rapid advancement of technology involved in biomedical engineering will continue to change the job profile of biomedical engineers. It will also continue to create new work areas. Thus, there is a need to translate the expanding range of activities for biomedical engineers into very favourable job prospects. The rapid ageing of the population and retirement of a substantial count of biomedical engineers is likely to result in massive job openings between the period of 2018 and 2024.

Biomedical engineering career opportunities would include the following:

  • Bio-medical Engineer
  • Instrument Engineer
  • Installation Engineer
  • Researcher
  • Maintenance Engineer

All the best

Hope this helps

Does Chemical Engineering habe a good Scope?

Aman Kumar 21st Jul, 2019
Dear Aspirant,
I have completed my graduation in chemical engg. in year 2016 & have been working in the core field for 10 months. Currently I am working in Tata Motors, Jamshedpur plant as a trainee. So basically I am a fresher & hence my answer will be focused on the freshers side only.

To be precise, a chemical engineer is mostly is a process engineer. Where ever there is a process involving chemical changes, a chemical engineer is needed. You need a chemical or process engineer to monitor the process, control it & suggest necessary changes. So by this decision virtually every production firm requires a chemical engineer.Although the number of chemical engineers required will be less than mechanical or electrical ones but process engineers are vital part of any plant.

So the scope of chemical engineering is vast. You might get a chance to work with wide range of industries, cement, pharmaceuticals, fertilizers, plastics, soaps & detergents, oil & gas, food & beverages to name a few. If you are graduating from a good college like NITs or IITs, mostly you will be placed in the campus recruitment in a good company. Your average package will range anything from 4.5 to 12 LPA. Oil companies tend to pay more, mostly above 10 LPA while the rest of the sectors mostly offer 6 or below to freshers even when they are recruiting from good colleges.

Now if you are not from a very flashy college, you may find hard time getting placed in the core sector. But vacancies for freshers are always open in chemical engineering. For an off-campus placement, your package will be somewhat in between 36 LPA but experience will pay off sooner or later. Since most of the tech graduates are switching fields to management & analytics. So a process engineer with experience is not common to find.

Other than private sector,

you can always give GATE exam to go for higher studies in India or get jobs in PSUs like ONGC, HPCL, IOCL etc. They have handsome pay packages & less work load compared to private sector[this may not be always true though].
After higher studies you work in R& D departments of production firms. If you are innovative & have genuine interest in chemical engg. this is the best way for you.
There are many sister streams of chemical engineering which have less work pressure & stable job like pollution control, process safety, environment management & quality control.
Hope I have made my self clear.
Best Wishes!
