Can a student appear for gate in aerospace while he have btech in mechanical

Shivam Gautam 23rd Jul, 2019
Dear Student

Yeah definitely GATE provides you the opportunity to revert your branch which writing the gate entrance exam. That doesn't matter in which branch you have studied , in whichever branch you can write the paper you have the opportunity to write in that only. So, try to improve your knowledge under Aerospace engineering such that you can be able to crack the GATE with a good AIR.

All the best

Yes it is possible .

You can give gate in any discipline of Engineering.

There is no mandatory eligibility for aerospace engineering gate exam .

For example many non cse students sit for gate exam of cse paper.

Provided you should study very hard .

The syllabus is large so working hard is must

what more courses should I do along with my b.tech aerospace degree to make my resume more attractive?

eeshaakula_9673611 Student Expert 22nd Jul, 2019

Hi!

I suggest you do the following!

  1. Join student organizations. You’d think getting the classwork and degree would be the major goal, but at  university the resources made available to us were much more important. Hands-on experience is pretty hard to get in class, even at a top school. Recruiters will be impressed if you have a project to talk about, especially if you try your hand at leadership.
  2. Grades matter but not as much as experience. Again, if you can keep your GPA and have project experience outside of class, getting into industry is a cakewalk.
  3. Get good at programming. The most popular languages in aerospace engineering to code in are MATLAB, Python, and C/C++. MATLAB is probably the one you’ll get the most experience in while doing class projects, but being able to teach yourself a language will be invaluable.
  4. If you can, do research. Asking to work with a professor and getting some original work done is an excellent way to build your scientific resume as well as all your trouble-shooting skills. If you want to go to graduate school, this is also highly recommended. I worked with two professors as an undergraduate and did an honors thesis at the end of the road that synthesized a lot of prior work. It helped me grow as an engineer and as a scientist and paved my way to grad school. (Also, bonus if you can get a paying gig.)
  5. Apply to internships every summer. Once you get your foot in the door of a company, you may find it’s a pipeline to a full-time position. Some top aerospace organizations that are really competitive are NASA Pathways (a co-op deal), SpaceX, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Aerospace Corporation, NASA JPL, and tons of smaller contracting companies. Find something, even if it’s a local company. The first internship is the hardest, and you’re a great candidate afterwards.
  6. Think about postgrad school. This is not required for most entry level positions, but depending on where you want to end up in the hierarchy you might find that research is your calling. If you want to enter on the job with more responsibility, a two-years M.S. program is worth it.

Can I get admission in aerospace field for mtech after b tech in mechanical engineering ?

Niraj Student Expert 22nd Jul, 2019
Hello aspirant,
Yes you can get admission in aerospace engineering in mtech after completing b. Tech in mechanical engineering. But if you want good college like IITs for doing m.tech then you need to qualify gate examination with good score and you need to apply in gate with aerospace engineering paper and you have to prepare for that paper. If your score is good enough then you can get admission in aerospace engineering branch .
Hope it helps!
Thank you.

Please inform me about all the future jobs for aerospace both in India and abroad and high placement records in this field.

raj22200 Student Expert 22nd Jul, 2019

Hello Spandan !!

Aerospace engineering has a very good scope in both India and aborad . While you can get a job in India after doing your UG , in most of the European or American countries they will consider you only if you higher studies .

This field of engineering has a good scope in reaseach field too where NASA ,DRDO are some of the best places to work.

Apart from this ,due to increase in air tourism these days you can work in such places . Flying clubs , aviation companies , aircraft manufacturing companies are some of the places where you can work .

The type of work has a good variety from designing , developing , testing etc.

The salary is also good , from 5 lpa to 15 or 20 lpa, which will increase with your post and experience.

But let me tell you that this is a tough course so study with your heart and soul.

All the best.

Hope this helps.

Hello what is fee for NT-2 category for aerospace engineering?

ojaswiyolo Student Expert 22nd Jul, 2019

Hello

As you have not mentioned which college you want to know about I will give a general view.Mmoreover most colleges dont give any rebate in fees except if you have come through management quota( then you can get a rebate of 30-40 thousand compared to what general category students pay). Also you can get a lot of rebate in BITs and IITs (besides the reservation of seats ). The average tuition fee charged for the course in India ranges between INR 5000 and 2 Lacs for a span of 4 years.

Aeronautical engineering is the primary branch of engineering behind the design, construction, and science of aircraft and spacecraft. The former deals with craft that stay within Earth's atmosphere, and the latter deals with craft that operates outside of Earth's atmosphere.

In private colleges like Amity University, Mumbai it may go up to INR 8.62 Lakhs total where as in Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai it will be   around INR 8.31 Lakhs  (in which you will be given rebate).

sirisha.gollakota16_9561365 Student Expert 20th Jul, 2019

Hello candidate. Can please mention your rank and category so that I can provide you the detailed information. The most important thing is that getting an admission in any Engineering college is mainly based on your rank and category. As you did not mention your category we cannot say that you can get admission in particular college. So mention your details clearly.
