Hello,

In 2008 the department was fluid mechanics was renamed to aerospace engineering and applied mechanics department. The intake of students was started from 2010-2011. Recently in 2017 the department started the B.Tech program in aerospace engineering. So the department is considerably new to other departments.

Hello,

Aerospace engineering is the newest department at IIEST Shibpur. The infrastructure and lab facilities are good. Faculty is also ok, some of the teachers are very experienced and some are not so overall it is average. The study curriculum is good amd similar to that of IIT Kanpur. But

Both the branches are similar but aerospace engineering is better than aeronautical engineering. It has a better svope and better placement opportunities as well,  you can also go for research after your B.Tech
