An update. The BCI will announce the answer key of AIBE XIII 2019 examination conducted on December 23, 2018, soon. Since it hasn't come today yet, it is expected that it will be released on Monday.

Every student passing LLB and intending to practice in a court of law anywhere in India has to appear for AIBE exam. The rules changed about 8 years back when SC concerned with the degrading standards of education, made it compulsory for law graduates to appear for AIBE

Dear SB, 

BCI only issues the certificate of practice, once a candidate clears the All India Bar Examination. So, in nutshell, provided you are registered/enrolled with a state bar council, you can appear for the AIBE and thereby get the Certificate of Practice issued to you by the BCI.

As per previous year trends the cutoff for general category was 38marks out of 100.
There are 100 questions with 1 mark each, and no negative marking is done. So if you answer more than half of the questions, lets say 70 questions and almost all will be correct

AIBE (13th ) which was held on 23rd of deceber 2018 results are expected to come out in the month of january 2019 and the expected cutoff is 

general - 62.3%-75%

obc- 55.4%-60%

sc-  44.9%-50%

st- 44.9%-50%

 nothing will happen if you (or do not pass the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) within two years of enrollment as an Advocate with a State Bar Council. The only downside is that you will not be entitled to practice law in Indian courts.
