Hi aspirant,
It would not be possible for you to get transferred from Indian army to air force or Navy even after applying for AFCAT or Navy ssr because both of them has physics and mathematics as basic requirement in +2 level. Only NDA gives you an opportunity to join the armed forces directly even you are not from science background.
Hope it helps!!
hey there,
In case of commerce stream, you'll have to appear for the combined defense services exam (CDSE) conducted twice a year by UPSC.
The exam has 3 papers or parts. It covers syllabus ranging from maths(part-1) english(part-2), and history, civics, geography, biology, chemistry, physics general knowledge, current affairs, etc. all covered in third part i.e. part-3.
Once you clear that, you shall get a call for Selection services board(SSB) conducted by a varied panel of assessors all of whom are officers in the varied branches of armed forces. It's a 5 day selection camp which is further divided into 3 assessments - Psychology, Group Testing and personal interview. Now all this information is just a superficial guide to get a basic understanding of the procedure, the more details of which you can find on the internet. Once you get selected through this process, then comes to medical examination which might go on for another 5 days. Once all of this is done a final list is prepared and published of all the candidates who cleared the whole procedure of SSB conducted throughout various centers in India.
Till recently for female candidates, it was a short service commission i.e. a service for duration of 10 yrs, but now the supreme court has ordered the govt to include women officers in permanent commission into army which includes command postings. If you're really keen and looking forward to join army, you should get started with preparing for the CDS exams the course and material of which can be easily found on the internet.
Apart from this, there's another entry i. e. The NCC special entry for those who are members of NCC . The eligibility criteria for the same is that the candidates should have served for a minimum of two academic years in the senior Division/Wing of NCC and have obtained a minimum of 'B' or 'C' grade certification.
Hope this helps.
