which is best option be manufacturing at bits pilani and be electronics and telecommunication at AIT pune and why?

Vipul Chaudhary 10th Jul, 2019

Hi Nishu!

Greetings!

Actually, now it only depends upon your interest. If you like computers and want to work in an it company in future and can compensate with your bitsian tag then go for ait without any second thought,  but if you want to be bitsian and do not have any wish to work in a it company doing coding or other,  then you can join bits pilani and can live your best college life in a reputed college.

But I will suggest you to go for AIT pune and join ece, it will make your future safe as ece have many job opportunities and you can do masters from their later if you wish with ece branch in hand. But if you are not agree with me then as your wish.

But I can give you information about manufacturing in BITS pilani.

Manufacturing Engineering has two main focus areas - manufacturing operations and manufacturing processes.

Manufacturing operations deal with simple inventory models, process ordering and forecasting like topics which may be covered in Manufacturing Management course and Optimization and Operations Research like courses which were a part of the old course structure, but now may be covered under other courses. Then there is management level focus in topics like Flexible Manufacturing Systems and Lean Manufacturing which are as of now offered as electives the former being along with MBA students.

The Manufacturing Processes deal with elementary design and theoretical understanding of core industrial processes which you would imagine to be of the time of Industrial Revolution. Things have surely come a long way since then but sure basics are there as it is. The newer techniques are given only introductory focus and only a 'reading' of what they are, is done. There is also a course on Mechatronics systems which gives good knowledge and feel of present systems, but again is slightly the informative kind.

Placements for automotive and production line type jobs is more or less treated both mechanical and manufacturing students alike, though I will refrain to say more . Another aspect is that you being a BITSian by no means will be restricted to be the Engineer your program (branch) makes you. You are free to stretch to cover Mechanical subjects and come at par; chuck the idea of core and jump to consultancy, finance or coding based job if you please and feel your interests to be otherwise.

WARNING : A VERY VERY PERSONAL OPINION
Course contents particularly w.r.t the old curriculum have not been the analytical kind, more the like of informative and knowledge based. That is something, well, a lot of people realize that in core Engineering that tends to be the case - lesser chances of problem solving, if at all, not illuminated in coursework. My discomfort with Manufacturing Engineering would be attributed to this. I have a million more reasons to curse it for I know how and where it could have been better (analytical, real -life problem solving like etc.) - well everyone sees a scope for improvement. But as they say - "Har kisi ko mukammal jahan nahi milta" (not everyone is blessed with a complete/ perfect world).

So I won't portray a rosy picture, i'll be blunt. I can't promise happiness, but I can promise opportunity and freedom like none other.

Please upvote if this was helpful to you.

Thank you and good luck.

Nsit csai vs bits hyderabad cs vs iit hyderabad/BHU chemical ?(I am from delhi) +(less intrest in chemistry)

adyasamohanty611_9299468 Student Expert 10th Jul, 2019

Hi Aspirant

A lot of students face this kind of confusion during counseling. The most important thing to be considered here is that you must go for a branch that interests you the most. All of them are excellent colleges.

You must gather as much information as you can about all the branches from people associated with those particular fields.

According to NIRF Rankings IIT Hyderabad is the best college among these colleges.

Hope this helps and All the Best.

Arihant Surana 9th Jul, 2019

Hello aspirant,

Is it likely good but the bits bits pilani is best option. You can consider bits Goa as second campus of that college. Also bits Goa is also very valuable cause it gives good placement and academics record. But bits pilani is best for its the main campus to be considered and has good ranking.

Bits Goa is not as valuable as pilani.

How is BITS Hyderabad? Campus life? Hostel?

aashitdua_6851558 Student Expert 9th Jul, 2019

Hey Aspirant,

Placements : The placement process is extremely successful. About 150 large and medium-sized companies visit our campus every year to recruit our students who are interested in securing jobs through campus placements succeed in doing so. This ensures that they have their career charted before they are done with their graduation. I am a second-year student, and I will be graduating in the year 2022. But as far as our seniors are concerned, the highest salary package offered was about 39 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered was about 7 LPA.

Infrastructure : The infrastructure of the college is tremendous. The feeling that it gives is never enthralling. We have a whole lot of facilities which in turn may make our campus into a mini-civilization. For study purpose, we have a very huge library which can accommodate around 3000 members easily. There is an open amphitheatre, an auditorium for recreational and official purposes. We are provided with a lot of sports facilities like tennis, volleyball, cricket, badminton and many more.

Faculty : Professors in the college are not only considered on their teaching basis, but they are also judged by their research quality during their selection. Professors here are highly qualified as they come from IITs, NITs and various other high standard institutes in the country. They teach very slow so that every person can understand. Not only the old methods of a blackboard, but they also use slides and presentations to create interest in the students. This kind of curriculum is diverse, and we opt for the subjects of our own irrespective of the branch. This can be done only if you are done with the subjects of your branch.
