Should I pursue b pharma at bits Pilani? I want to pursue MS from abroad (preferably a CS related branch) after 4 years? Is it worth joining

adyasamohanty611_9299468 Student Expert 21st Jun, 2019

Hi Aspirant

A lot of dilemma students face this kind of dilemma. The most important thing here is to pursue your interest.

Although BITS Pilani is one of the best colleges of the nation you must realise what is the relevance of B. Pharma with respect to the future degree that you want to take up.

If you want to pursue MS in the future especially in CS related subjects it would be better if you take a bachelor's degree related to CS.

Consider your other options and then decide what you must take up in the future.

Hope this helps. All the Best.

Paridhi Jain 21st Jun, 2019
Hey Bikram,

According to your query,

Both colleges are equivalent in all temprms and in all aspects. Both offer you high placements but yes if you want to choose one then go for BITs campus as it is more Ood in academics and NIT at this concept and BITs is also one of the top colleges of India in B.E or M.E so go for it.

Hope you find it useful

Thank you.

Sir my JEE MAINS rank is 102012 (General category) . What are the possibilities . (HS-Rajasthan)

Paridhi Jain 20th Jun, 2019
Dear aspirant,

According to your query,

Your JEE rank is decent for a general category candidate. But unfortunately the chances are less to get you seat in the BITs through the rank. Now your BITs entrance exam marks is 207 do according to previous year's cut-offs that was around 202 marks so chances are less to get a good B.E branch though this marks also. You at least need above 290 to get better seat in BITs for a general category candidate. But then also try your luck through counselling.

Hope you find it useful.

Thank you.

I have got 286 out of 450 in Bits exam-2019. I want to take Msc. Mathematics from Bits pilani. Am I able to be enrolled at pilani campus.

Shyam Vs 20th Jun, 2019

Dear Anjali,

As per last three year cutoff statistics for BITS Pilani, the cut off for M.Sc Mathematics course was 297, 277 and 267 respectively. Given that the cutoffs are increasing every year, it may be difficult for you to get this course. However with this same mark, you will be able to get this course in Hyderabad and Goa campus.

Hi Jatin

You should continue to do the job in HCL and do the B.Tech degree side by side. It would help you earn and also get the degree.
It would help you to get double benefit.

Is there no role of 12th marks in cutoff for bits to opt CSE other than eligibility.???

Preety 19th Jun, 2019

Hello Sahil,

Specifically for CSE, there's no such role of 12th marks.Other than the eligibility criteria, that is to secure a minimum of 75% in 12th boards , 12th boards marks play a role only in case there's a tie between two student's BITSAT score . You will be allocated a seat on the basis of your BITSAT score only, in accordance to your preference list.

When two candidates score the same in BITSAT,  priority is given to the candidate

A. On the basis of BITSAT score in individual subjects, with priority  in the following order:

1. Mathematics

2.Physics

3. Chemistry

B. On the basis of 12th boards :

If all the individual score in BITSAT are same, then their 12th marks are compared, and priority is given to the one with hogher percentage in 12th boards.

and for last year's BITSAT cutoffs, visit: https://www.bitsadmission.com/cutoffscores2018.aspx

Hope it helps.

Best Wishes!

What are the other advances part(12000 per semester) in bits pilani fee structure?what are they used for?

Preety 24th Jun, 2019

Hello Shiva,

The other advances fees( Rs. 12,000 per semester) is for adjustments. Your expenses like BITS COOP, or canteens , etc. , if paid using your BITS ID(that will be issued to you once you get admission) are decducted from your total advance fees of Rs. 22,000/-(mess advance Rs. 10,000/- +other advances Rs. 12,000/-). So, its like the extra fees you pay beforehand, expenses from which will be deducted from your account and the remaining balance will be adjusted into the next semester's fees.

Hope it helps!
