Birla Institute of Technology and Science doesn't offer admission in second year that is there's no lateral entry scheme. Admission to B.tech programs are done in first year only which is purely based on the merit obtained in Entrance exam- BITSAT. There is no provision for lateral entry.

Bits Pilani is comparable to the old IITs, i.e. Bombay, Delhi, Madras, Kharagpur, Guwahati, Roorkee and Kanpur. If you have a choice between the same branch at one of these IITs and BITS, go for an IIT.
