Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani
Srinivas, firstly I would answer the second part of your query. No, not all the students at any branch of BITS are rich, the students are not selected on the basis of their richness rather they get selected on the basis of their performance in BITSAT. So, if you are good enough to be in the merit list, it does not matter whether you are rich or not and moreover, education is a leveler between different sections of society and you should not divide it into rich or poor. Now, moving onto the first part of your query, there are many scholarships or fee concessions given to the students in BITS. Some of them are:-
* Students who secure the top three positions in class 12th exams in their respective boards are given a merit scholarship of 100%, 75% and 50% of the total first semester tuition fee respectively for the first semester.
* Students who obtain 90% or above in the aggregate of the Qualifying Examination are given a merit scholarship of 20% of 1st semester tuition fee and the ones who have obtain 80% or above but less than 90% in the aggregate of the Qualifying Examination are given a merit scholarship of 15% of the first semester tuition fee.
* Students who have participated and won medals in International sports tournaments are given scholarship of 50% of the first semester tuition fee and students who have participated in the International sports tournaments are given scholarship of 15% of first semester tuition fee and the students who have participated and won medals in National tournaments are given scholarship of 20% of first semester tuition fee and students who have participated in National Tournaments are given scholarship of 5% of first semester tuition fee.
* The candidates who are selected on basis of BITSAT with a score required for a concession(generally decided by BITS before the examinations) will be offered a 25% concession in the Hostel fee for the normal duration of the programme (four years) or for the first year.
These were some fee concessions which you can avail while at BITS. Also, I would advise you not to think about the richness or poverty of your peers as it is the education that matters and in that case BITS is quite rich in education.
Hello!
BITS is a very prestigious college in itself. It is the most sought after college after NITs and IITs. The placements are quite good.
M.sc economics from BITS,Pilani is a very good choice. the previous year highest package offered was around 20lpa. Being a dual degree student would surely provide you perks but not being one should not be much of a trouble. You can still excel and be at par with the dual degree students by improving your soft skills and maintaining a good score. Be confident with whatever you've choosed to do.
All the best.
Hi there,
The candidates appearing for BITSAT exam has to register for BITS councelling which is needed for shortlisting the candidates.
The 1000 rupees fees for the councelling is excluded of the total fees, admissio is done with various stages with exam and councelling and final seat allotment.
Hope this help you.
Thank you
Hi dear,
During counselling you have to pay 1.42 lac. If you give up your seat and someone take your seat then a very little amount will deduct and rest will refunded but if your seat remain vacant then a you will lose a heavy amount.

Dear Aspirant,
As you wish to pursue business school, there is a wide range of options available. A business school is typically a university-level institution that provides degrees in business administration or management and specialise in teaching courses and programs related to business or management. A business school might offer a whole set of management programs, but they are primarily known for the MBA programs or Master of Business Administration Programs.
Before jumping into the decision of choosing a business school, be sure to analyse a few points such as your ability, your background, your entrance score, your career objectives, location, faculty and feedback.
MBA has always been known for its placement opportunities and packages. Every year there is an enormous increase on the MBA salary scale making it quite a desirable choice for the students who want to pursue you. The highest placement package realised among various colleges was seen to be 78 lakhs per annum and the average package in all the colleges was around 20 lakhs per annum. It depends on the institution you have studied and how reputed it is. The recruiter will see these things and then give you the desired package.
Hope this helps. All the best!
