Does the college as entrance exam

Devraj Student Expert 4th Feb, 2025

Hi,

Colleges offer admission to its course with entrance exam or without entrance exam. Almost all prestigious colleges and universities require an entrance exam. Either the university specific or all India level entrance Test. In my experience, most of the colleges in South India have their own specific entrance exam.

Majority government colleges take admission with entrance test marks but there are some private colleges where it is possible to get admission without taking entrance exams if you scored well enough in your high school exams, such as CBSE exams.

Hope this information will help you

Hi

In the CBSE Class 10 board exams , if you have six subjects , the total marks you need to fill are calculated as follows :

Per subject marks :  Each subject has a total of 100 marks ( 80 marks for theory exams + 20 marks for internal assessment or practical ) .

Total marks for six subjects : The total marks would be 600 marks ( 6 subjects x 100 marks each ).

Ensure you enter the correct total marks as per your CBSE marksheet and the subjects listed , if your school has any different assessment format .

Hi, How is KCET rank is calculated for CBSE board students.. Please let me know the process ....

Manasvini Gupta 10th Oct, 2025

For CBSE students, the KCET rank is calculated using marks from both the KCET exam and CBSE Class 12 board exams . The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) gives 50% weightage to KCET marks and 50% to board exam marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. For example, if you score 80% in KCET and 90% in board exams, your final score will be the average of both - 85%. This combined score decides your rank. CBSE students must ensure their Class 12 PCM marks are correctly submitted to KEA so that they are included while calculating the final KCET rank.

so according to cbse 5 subject rule for boards exam 2024-25. my additional subject is information technology. if i got good marks in 5 subject and low in one subject say maths . Thn my maths mark is replaced by marks of IT. will i get a topper rank?

Garima Sihag 16th Sep, 2025

Yes, under the CBSE 5-subject rule for 2024-25:

  • A student’s percentage/aggregate is calculated from the best 5 subjects, where an additional subject (like Information Technology) can replace a failed/low-score subject, provided IT is offered as the 6th subject.

  • So if you score low in Mathematics, but your IT marks are higher, then IT will replace Maths in your aggregate.

  • Your overall percentage will be calculated with IT instead of Maths, and you will be eligible for merit/rank just like any other student.
