I am a CA student. Can I apply for CAT with open degree from IGNOU. Please suggest

priyaankasarkar Student Expert 17th Aug, 2019
Dear Sai, there are 2 things to it. If you are still pursuing your CA Articleship, you unfortunately are ineligible for appearing for CAT 2019. But if parallelly you have pursued a Graduation degree along with CA, though you havent completed your CA Articleship, you are eligible for CAT. The rule says that if you have not completed any Graduation course and are in the final year of a Professional course like CA/ICWA/CS, you are not eligible for CAT 2019. But puruing a Graduation course now will consume 3 years and by then you wpuld have missed atleast 3 chances of appearing for CAT. You havent mentioned how many months of Articleship are you left with. But the early way to appear for CAT is to complete ypur remaining tenure of the Articleship and get your Professional degree and appear for CAT.

Is opting maths in 11 and 12 compulsory to pursue career in CA? Is maths very important for becoming a CA?

vikashkr894_9303636 Student Expert 7th Jul, 2019

Maths is important if you want to clear CPT easily. Certain topics which you will learn in 11th and 12th std are also in CPT syllabus (Eg integration, derivatives, regression coefficient etc)

One of the main reason for CPT students facing difficulty is maths. If you have taken maths for 11th and 12th then it will be a plus point for you as you will understand the concepts in CPT better.

Many students have joined CPT without maths in 11th and 12th. It is possible to join CPT without doing maths in 11th and 12th. But, you will HAVE TO study maths in CPT in order to pass.

practice mathematics as much as you can and improve yourself. You will find it difficult to clear CPT if you don't study maths well. I'm not trying to scare you.

DO NOT ignore mathematics if you want to clear CPT easily

Is it better and good to pursue actuarial science with b.com hons or to pursue CA with b com hons ??

Annie Pruthi 7th Jul, 2019
Hey,
Greetings. Bcom hons is a 3 year undergraduate course including topics like accountancy, finance, mathematics, business studies at intermediate level. In further semesters, you'll learn more about such subjects and will be specialised in specific subjects. Actuarial science includes learning about risk in financial management. It takes around four to six years to complete the course. The difficulty increases at each level. CA becomes tough at later stages too. The syllabus is vast and needs a lot of regular study. Anyway, both the courses require enough and more work from your side to specialise and qualify them. Choose as per your interest.

I lost my ca foundation registration number

rehan18alam Student Expert 4th Jul, 2019

Dear Aspirant,

In most of the cases of lost credentials, you have a way to get them back. The most popular way to get it back is E-mail. The way to get it back could be either online or with a helpline number. ICAI has sent you a mail regarding your registration number, check your mail list. However, if you do not have it then contact ICAI, mail them regarding it, they will revert to it.

Hope this helps.

Iam persuing CA intermediate course and I have completed CA foundation .can I can get seat for MBA in OSAMANIA by passing TSICET

mdsameenabanu Student Expert 3rd Jul, 2019

HI,

To get admission in MBA you need to have graduation degree, however CA certificate is not equivalent to Graduation degree. CA and Graduation can not be compared, as the former is a certificate course and the later is a degree course

SO in addition to graduation degree like bcom, bsc, ba ,bba etc ,if you hv CA certificate ,then yes you can get seat in OU for mba provided you need to score good as the cutoff of rank for OU is very low below 200 rank would be great

Hope its clear

GOOD LUCK
