Yes your boards result matters alot while taking admission in any private engineering college. Also if you belong to general category and won't score minumum 75% in boards thhen you will not bbe eligible for JEE Mains examination. In private engineering colleges they generally prepare a merit list

You can not write CAT exam right after your 12th exams. You need to be at least in the final year of your graduation to attempt the CAT exam. Assuming that you are going to go for MBA after graduation, I would suggest you choose your graduation carefully
