In general, you can attempt JEE advance twice. To be eligible for JEE advanced you need to have scored 75% marks in your 12th exams (65% for SC/ST). But if you have taken a year drop after your boards (ie. your 12th exams) you'll be able to attempt

For admissions into NITs, IIITs and GFTIs, the general category candidates should have obtained 75% aggregate marks and the OBC-NCL/ SC/ ST/ PwD candidates should have scores 65% in total five subjects including Mathematics.
