I have just passed my 10 class now I am in delima to choose my stream I am quiet good in Maths but I want to become IAS or cds so will it be good option to choose PCM or I should go for humanities?

snigdha vig 15th Apr, 2021

Hi,

For IAS and CDS, it is necessary to complete graduation. However according to the criteria for CDS, it is mandatory for a student to have a degree in Engineering along with physics and mathematics as mandatory subjects in Class 12th specially for Air force. Thus, it is suggested for you to take PCM in 12th as it will keep your options for all the career possibilities.

You can refer these links for UPSC CDS and UPSC IAS for more detailed information: https://competition.careers360.com/exams/cds

I hope this helped you.

Sharon Rose Student Expert 7th Apr, 2021

Hello,

The age limit to appear for Combined Defence Service (CDS) for Officers Training Academy is 19-25 years for men and Women. As per the age criteria CDS 2 2021 will be your last attempt. A candidate must be born in between July 2, 1997- July 1, 2003 to be eligible to appear for CDS 2 2021 for OTA. And the age eligibility criteria for CDA 1 2022 for OTA will be that a candidate must not born earlier than January 2, 1998 and not later than January 1, 2004. As you do not fulfill the criteria you will not be eligible to appear for CDS 1 2022 thus CDS 2 2021 will be your last attempt.

hello aditya aradhyula

I hope your are doing good. I would like to tell you that in educational qualifications eligibility to appear in cds , you must have bachelors in technology degree(engineering) or degree with maths and physics in 10+2 level .

In india mostly bachelors degree are of three years atleast, so if you have bachelors degree atleast then only you can apply for AFA exam conducted by upsc .

You can also go TES(technical entry scheme) if you do have good percentage in PCM .

What is the difference between CDS and NDA exam? Can I apply for both?

chinchujoseph1993 31st Mar, 2021

Hello,

Hope you are doing good.

The National Defence Academy (NDA) and the Combined Defence Services (CDS), both are exams conducted by the UPSC to join The Triservice in India.

Below I have mentioned some differences between both the exams:

Parameter

NDA

CDS

Age

16.5-19.5 Years

19-25 Years

Gender

Male

Male and Female

Educational Qualification

10+2

Degree

Duration of Training

4-4.5 Years

18 months for IMA Cadets

37-40 months for Navy Officers

74 months for Air Force Officers

From a prvious question you posted it is understood that you have finished your 12th. In this case you can try for the NDA exam. But to be eligible for CDS you need to have completed your Degree.

Hope this helps

Good Luck

sir i score 92 in class 12 with pcm but not able to give jee because of accident can you. suggest me best collage for btech for army tgs , cds , naval btech entry

aditya 29th Mar, 2021

Hello vaibhav pandit

I hope you are doing good. I would like to tell you that for getting into an army after 10+2 can be done by two options NDA And TES(tecnical entry scheme). As per you query , if you want to btech you can go for technical entry scheme , in which you have to fill the form . After filling the form ,depending on  the number of candidate applied, they shortlisted candidates by deciding a cut off and  then shorlisted candidate have go through only SSB round (most important). All the expenses of education ,training of final selected candidate are done by the army.

I personally advise ypu to go for tes because at your percentage you will easily get a call from them. I am sharing below the link for your reference.

Hope you found this answer helpful. Good luck for your future
