Hi, I am currently in 2nd year of my graduation, i am doing BBA. I want to know whether appearing for CAT exam next year i.e after my third year will be counted as a drop year? I am busy with my studies, and some internships so i dont want to appear for the CAT exam in my 2nd year.

The eligibility criteria of CAT exam are

  • The candidates  who holds Bachelor’s Degree from any UGC recognized University/ Institute can apply for the exam.
  • The candidates  who have completed their graduation in B.Tech/B.E from any recognized University/ Institute are also eligible for the exam.

According to your question calls from top IIMS like ahemdabad, Bangalore,Calcutta,lucknow,Indore,Kozhik ode is next to impossible to get but you could expect calls from new iims like rohtak,Ranchi and the other parallel iims.

Since you have not mentioned your category so considering it as general.

As per your category and percentile in CAT you have quite less or almost no chances to get seat in top IIMs such as IIM A/B/C and so on but you can get some Baby IIMs

With the academic record and CAT percentile you have mentioned in the question you have some decent chances in IIMs like IIM Udaipur, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Jammu and in some other B-Schools.

No, for applying to Other Institutes accepting CAT Score, you need to apply for the respective institute on its admission portal with your CAT Score and respective formalities, application, questionaire , academic records and important documents followed by being shortlisted for further Admission Procedures like GDPI/WAT.
