To be honest to you, you have very low chance in government colleges based on your rank. You should probably try again next year with better preparation or look for private colleges.

CAT tests your basic understanding of English language. So, they ask questions from areas like reading comprehension, para-jumble or sentence rearrangement, critical reasoning, para-completion etc. Off-late they have stopped asking direct questions from Grammar and Vocabulary.

You will need atleast 90 -92 percentile in CAT to get a call from IIM k . Moreover , to be able to get into the IIM , you need a strong profile . The extra curriculars and your performance in interview counts a lot.

There is plenty of material available online and in form of books for CAT prep. This is the reason that aspirants get overwhelmed and try to practice from varied sources. The approach on the other hand should be to keep it simple. Following are the sources I would suggest:

You may get govt collage if there are some less famous courses in your choices. Like mining, chemical agriculture etc.
For XLRI, you have to appear for XAT.You need to score 96 percentile and above to get a call for BM and 94 percentile and above for HRM. Besides you also need to clear sectional cut-offs.

To fulfill the NEET eligibility criteria 2018, candidate must have passed in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English individually.
The candidates belonging to General Category should score a aggregate minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Bio-technology in their Class 12 or HSC examination.
