I got a rank of 350 in IIT-JAM.Which IIT is good for me if I am interested in Applied mathematics and would like to go in the field of data science.

See if you want to do Applied Mathematics then IIT can be a good choice for you. As its a engineering institution it can give you a good background in Applied Mathematics and you can go for Data Science also as Electives in the curriculum. IIT will not be a bad choice for you and you can completely trust the curriculum there.

Hi,

At this point of time, if you are considering a course at undergraduate level, it is best to consider Computer Science Engineering. The reasons for the same will be that it includes all the aspects related to computers. After pursuing B.Tech in Computer science Engineering, you can opt for all the options you mentioned here. You can go for data science, Artificial intelligence and many other options too as this one course has a lot of potential and is a basic for all the technologies that are currently in use and the ones that will be there in the future too.

can i study data science without an entrance test? is data science or IT or computer engineering is the best?

Dear student,

There are some colleges which offers Data Science course without entrance exam. Among Data Science, IT and Computer Engineering, Computer Science Engineering is better. It has good scope. Next option is IT and then Data Science after Computer Science Engineering.

I assume you are referring to biomedical engineering stream. see data science stream is an interdisciplinary stream and in most of the institute offers the course to candidates who belongs to engineering or m.sc back ground. however this eligibility criteria may differ college wise, so that it is advisable to check the official brochure before applying to any of the particular institute.

If you are interested in Research or Academia, you may pursue M.Sc in Physics, perhaps from some of the Top Technical Institutes like IITs, IISER or IISc in India. Physics even has scope in the Public Sector with Research Organizations like CSIR, ISRO, DRDO as well as BARC.

Hello,

The eligibility criteria for M.sc business statistics in VIT is

  • The Candidate should have passed graduation in Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Science/ Business/ Commerce / Economics/ Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Also, the candidate should have at least 60% marks in UG

and, The eligibility criteria for M.sc data science in VIT is

  • The candidate should have completed BE/BTech in CSE/ IT/ECE/EEE or BSc in Mathematics/Computer Science/ Physics/Statistics
  • Also, the candidate need to have at least 60% marks in UG.

So, yes you can apply for MSc in VIT.
