From my point of view, if you want to do a job then you should choose mechanical branch. But if you want to study further then you should choose C.S. 

Keep remember, mechanical has morw government jobs than C.S

Last choice is yours. As no branch is bad.

Since you have not mentioned the name of your exam , i assume it to be WB JEXPO exam..and if the rank you have mentioned is your WB JEXPO CML rank , then you have very less chances for govrrnment polytechnic college if you are a general category
