BIT Mesra comes in the league of NIT T, NIT S, NIT W whereas NIT J is a bit lower ranked, but having said that, NIT J by the virtue of being an NIT comes under the Institute of National Importance. BIT Mesra has its Alumni in all the Top Universities around the globe (you see, being such an old college would certainly fetch you a legacy). So no worries on that as BIT Mesra would get you an upper hand as far as getting into a top University abroad is concerned.

The grading system at BIT Mesra is absolute and the evaluation process is also very strict, so it is difficult to score marks in BIT as compared to many NITs. Your CGPA might take a hit if you don’t study well in BIT. 

I would suggest choosing a college among the two based on your preferences like closeness to your home, Coaching/guidance for GRE, Alumni connect; rest apart, both are good colleges and would provide you equal opportunities.

NIT Durgapur is better than NIT Jalandhar. NIT Durgapur is much older than NITJ and thus has more alumni than NITJ. NIT Jalandhar was established later so have better infrastructure but NITD is undergoing massive infrastructure modernisation. As it is located in Bengal and Bengal had produced well known scientist and scholars, so environment for research is good here. And taking mechanical engineering in consideration i will suggest you NITD. rest decision depends on your choice

BIT MESRA is not good for CHEMICAL ENGINEERING. According to me, NIT SURAT is a better option than NIT JALANDHAR because since it is older than JALANDHAR it has better facilities and more companies visit this. Placement records are more or less equal

See, if you want to get an NIT tag and are comfortable in learning coding or other job-oriented skills later in your life, then I think that you should definitely go with Instrumentation and Control Engineering in NIT Jalandhar, as here you will get more exit options in both core and Non-core as compared to LNMIIT.

But, if you like coding very much and absolutely want to go for a CSE degree, then you should go with CSE in LNMIIT as it will also provide you with a higher package. Hope I have answered you question. All the best!

In NIT, Jalandhar out of 68 eligible students 51 of them were offered jobs. 6 got double job offers. A total of 45 students were placed. The average package was 5.44 lakhs p/a in the previous years.

Well the academics and placement records tells that Chemical Engg at NIT Raipur is much better than the two others and NIT Raipur is ranked 11th in top NITs.

NIT Raipur is a very old clg and also the Chemical Engineers here are good..
